Wedding Cake

Until you make a wedding cake (even one as small as this one) you never truly apperciate the time and preperation that goes into making one. The past 12 weeks have ruined me for cake-now when I look at a cake my thoughts don't go into how beautiful it is or how nicely decorated-no I think, Wow, those roses must have taken 3 hours. Look at that frosting-it's sooo smooth, I wonder what her technique is!

This is my course 3 cake final. The theme was miniature wedding cake. I took it to work with me and received two contacts. Now I only have to figure out what my pricing matrix will be.

This is the cake I did for Amy's bridal shower.

I wanted it to resemble her bouquet. I did 67 mini cupcakes each with a royal icing flower. The cupcakes were skewered into an 8 1/2" styrofoam ball. Silk stems came out the back.

Flower making took about 10 hours. It was my first real practice outside of class time-hopefully the next time it will go quicker. I received an offer to do 13 miniture bouquets for centerpieces at a 25th wedding anniversary in June from the shower.

Zane's First Birthday

I got into cake decorating because I wanted to get better at doing birthday cakes for my two boys. The cake here was for my son Zane (who turned one). He's the little guy in the picture to the right (20 months now).

I purchased the sheet cake from Walmart and just had them ice it smooth so I could finish is up. We did a Backyardigan's party-I freehanded Tasha, Pablo and Uniqua.

I also did Elmo cupcakes for his daycare classmates.

Course Two Cake

This is my course two cake final. The light is really weird but you get the general idea. The frosting was a light lime green in real life.

This is me!

Hello,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about myself so that when I make it big you can say, "I knew her when..." :)

I've always been a fan of cake decorating, my mom taught me how to do it when I was young and I can remember pouring over her Wilton Yearbooks looking at all of the cakes.

I started taking Wilton Courses in January of 2007 and I'm getting ready for my Course 3 Cake final and starting Sugar and Gum Paste. I also received my first order for a cake (for profit-my family gets them free so I can practice on them!).

I love feedback so let me know what you think of my cakes!
